Firstly, you need to see an exclamation mark under your friends’ profile picture. It means that your friend asked for help. Secondly, you need to visit his/her farm and click on the ship (you will be able to do it, if your friend asked for help with Ship orders). After that you can complete one of the orders. Bear in mind that you need to have required products in your Barn or in your Silo.
